For more than 53 years, Portage, a non-profit organization, has helped thousands of men, women and adolescents struggling with addiction. Every individual who turns to Portage begins a recovery journey that empowers them to make meaningful changes and regain control of their lives.
The R. Howard Webster Foundation has stood alongside the organization for more than 20 years in its mission to transform and save lives. Among recent initiatives made possible through this longstanding partnership are the redevelopment of facilities and the addition of a new wing for adolescents and young adults at Portage’s Lac Écho centre in Prévost. In addition to meeting today’s safety standards, this expansion has made it possible to welcome more young people and bring together under one roof the therapy and academic programs, as well as a variety of enrichment activities.
Naming one of the pavilion’s rooms in honour of the R. Howard Webster Foundation stands as a lasting tribute to its commitment. It will serve as a daily reminder to the young residents that their recovery journey is possible thanks to the generosity of partners who are deeply invested in their success.
The Foundation’s support plays a vital role in the lives of these vulnerable young people, many of whom struggle with mental health challenges and issues related to digital addiction. It provides them with the tools and support they need to build skills, regain balance and thrive, enabling them to become active members of society. Through this support, Portage continues to help build a stronger, more inclusive community.
