A full life has a million moments, and at Canuck Place Children’s Hospice, they believe that the shortest lives should be the fullest of them all. Canuck Place provides complex pediatric palliative care for over 946 children with life-threatening illnesses and the families who love them, across BC and the Yukon. Services include medical respite; pain and symptom management; 24-hour Clinical Care Line; art, music, and recreation therapy; end-of-life care; and grief, loss, and bereavement counselling, all provided at no cost to families.
For over 30 years, the donor community has supported the pediatric palliative care program at Canuck Place. The R. Howard Webster Foundation’s support of their Enhanced Community Care program has made an enormous impact on Canuck Place’s ability to provide in-home care to their most vulnerable patients and their families, where and when they needed it, particularly when children are nearing end of life.
We all have finite days, and whether our time is a little longer—or all too short, what matters most is making memories we can carry with us forever. Together, we can support families in living the end of life as fully as the beginning.
